Still too big!

December 20th - 25th, 2008 - Dan, Rory and I stayed in Walnut Creek for Christmas. Although we missed being around family we were blessed that we were able to spend quality time together as a new family. We took Rory to meet Santa Clause at the club and brought home a real christmas tree. I had already had a christmas stocking personalized for Rory with the hopes of using it next year but was lucky enough to hang it on the fireplace this year.

It only got worse from here...

December 13th, 2008 - Rory gets her first bath at home!! I don't know who hated it more mommy or Rory. By far it has been the hardest thing to do and clearly Rory is not much liking it either. We will come to find out that over the next few months that Rory is just not a fan of the whole bathing process. Boy are we in for a smelly future with her!!!

Finally Home

December 8th, 2008 - Rory is finally home and swaddled tightly in her blanket. We are so happy to have her home where we can finally be with her. Underneath the blanket is her biliblanket for her jaundice. We had a hospital nurse visiting everyday for the next four days drawing blood from her little foot to make sure that she was getting better. We were lucking when we finally got the ok that she was able to leave the house by the end of the week.

December 8th, 2008 - I got to come home on Sunday but due to Rory's jaundice they kept her in the hospital until her numbers started going up. Fortunately, for mommy and daddy she was well enough to come home on December 8th with a Biliblanket so she could continue her tanning (light therapy) at home. Nanny Nadeane was leaving so she made sure she got a few more minutes with Rory.

December 6, 2008 - Nanny Nadeane flew up on Saturday to help us out. We did not have a single thing washed, did not own a car seat and had not even set up Rory's room. Dan's brother, Martin, was visiting as well but would not hold Rory. She is in awe of her Nanny Nadeane!!! Thank you mom for all your help. You will never know how much it meant to us to have you here and helping out. Because I was so sick and could not visit Rory in the NICU when Rory was ready to come home on December 8th my mom stepped up to the plate and took my place in the wheelchair with Rory. I am bummed that we do not have a photo.

Rory under the lights!

So I am finally catching everyone up on our lives since the birth of Rory. Sorry....but I wanted to get as much time in with Rory as possible before heading back to work. So indulge me with all the following information.

Shortly after Rory's birth she was moved into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and I into the smallest postpartum room on record (I couldn't even take a photo the room was so small). Unfortunately I was sick and could not visit with Rory in the NICU and had to fight with the nurses for them to bring her to me. Sans Mom...Rory was already tanning (trying to get rid of the jaundice). She was quickly losing weight and by the time we would bring her home she would be 5 lbs. 5 oz.

To make sure that she made santa's good girl list, Rory Madelyn Eleanor made her grand entrance 4 weeks early.

She is excited about joining mommy and daddy for christmas. Unfortunately, we thought we had a couple of more weeks to prepare for arrival and are frantically trying to get things done before we go home.

Los Angeles Baby Shower

My mom and Stacey, my step-sister, were kind enough to throw me a wonderful baby shower in Los Angeles. I was surrounded by family and friends who showered our daughter with beautiful gifts. She is so lucky to have so many strong female role models in her life. I have included a few of the pictures that my cousin, Jenny (http://www.redloftstudios.com/), took of my ever growing belly. Being pregnant is an amazing thing.

Our friends Smoothie and Hilary were here visiting from Pittsburgh, PA. We played hookie from work on Friday and went up to Napa to partake in a little wine tasting....or should I say they did and I was their designated driver. We had a wonderful time with them and realize how much we miss everyone back in Pittsburgh.
